Danvers Peak Savings Program

Summer of 2018 marked the 4th year of Danvers’ Peak Savings Program.  The program has grown from a residential program with 800 participants to a four pronged program consisting of 1,401 residents, 65 small/medium businesses and 8 large industrial & commercial accounts, as well as the use of a temporary 4MW diesel generator to capture the Town’s ICAP and Transmission Peaks.

Through the combined efforts of these four program elements, the Peak Savings program achieved $319,416 in savings and a 3,900 kW load reduction with our 2018 summer peak, compared to $80,000 in savings and a 430 kW load reduction during the first season.  The program continues to accomplish the goal of saving energy during peak hours and helps contain energy costs for the Town of Danvers.

What some Peak Savers had to say...

“Thank you.  We are learning a lot and my kids are becoming very aware of their use of electricity.”

“Thank you for having this program to help Danvers conserve energy!  Well done!”

“This has been a real eye opener.  I have enjoyed being a part of the program.  Not hard to do!  I can only imagine the savings the Town could gain if more people joined this program.”

From Our Business Partners:

"Kaffmandu Coffee House is very proud to be part of the Town of  Danvers energy conservation program, Peak Savings. We support the Town of Danvers….  For the program, we were able to conserve energy by reducing the thermostat, making sure to turn off lights at the end of the day, and turning off all electric appliances when not in use.  I recommend all businesses to be part of the program in the future."

-- Om Shrestha, Owner - Kaffmandu Coffee House

"Hancock Associates believes that everyone can make a difference. The Peak Savings Program reminds our employees that even the little things like turning off lights and unplugging cell phone chargers not only reduce business expenses, they help our environment. We look forward to participating next year!”
